Ribbon dancing - After watching videos of Dragon Dances with ribbons we gave it a go, we focussed on gross motor skills and movement to create swirls and patterns in the air without tangling our ribbon.
Class 1 Assembly: We dressed as a Chinese dragon and performed a song for the school and our parents, as well as showing off all the fantastic learning we have done.
Traditional Printing Methods - in art, we have been looking at block printing to create a negative image, just like in traditional Chinese printing presses. We practiced by carving potatoes to make foot prints then moved on to more complex carved patterns and pictures.
In science we are looking at every day materials. We looked at what materials would keep or Ice Dragon eggs frozen the longest and recorded the temperature and time it took to melt.
In PE we are focusing on dance, so far we have looked at movement with different points of contact as well as balancing and counter balancing.
Year 1 had a fantastic time in their first session of Forest Schools.
