My name is Julie Ioanna I am from Bradford and I have worked in the education sector across the District for 18 years with an initial focus on the welfare and development of children with additional needs by providing professional development for staff working in a wide variety of settings.  For the past 10 years I have been an officer with the School Governor Service and involved with providing advice and training for governors and boards, both maintained and academies. In addition, I am a consultant with the National Governors Association and deliver the NGA Development Programmes for chairs, governors and governing boards.

I am currently still involved with the training and development of Teaching Assistants in schools and, on visiting Shirley Manor in connection with this role, was inspired by the ethos of the school and the commitment of the Head teacher and all staff to the nurture and development of the children that have been entrusted to them.

On a personal note I have two grown up children, a boy and a girl, and is well aware of how important parents are to any school and is impressed by the growing support that Shirley Manor receives from its parent community.

I am proud to be invited to join the board of Shirley Manor and be part of this drive towards ensuring that every child at the school has the belief that they can, and deserve, to achieve and be happy.
