As part of our writing sequence, the children have an experience day. This is to allow the children to immerse themselves in the topic that is to come, and to allow the children to understand what the topic is about. This time the children participated in a Roman drill camp. The 'legionaries' were placed under the command of the 'centurions' who issued orders for the children to follow. The activities were:
- marching (both in small groups and as a whole class unit)
- running and jumping
- sword practice
- boxing
- press ups
- spear throwing.
