The children are in the process of writing a short story based on a part of 'Journey to the River Sea'.
In the section, Maia (the main character) leaves the safety of the house in the rainforest where she lives, to make her way to the main town. On her way, several problems occur!
During the first part of the writing sequence, the children have made a story map of her journey as detailed in the book.
