The children investigated the work of Alma Thomas during Black History Month. Ms Thomas was an African American artist whose family left the racial violence of Georgia. Her work 'Resurrection' was displayed in the dining room of the Whitehouse during the Obama presidency.
The children created their own paintings based on her work. They used black and white to change the base colours, using sponges to create the printing style of Thomas.
