The children in Year 3 really enjoyed coming to school as an adjective! Their costumes were absolutely incredible and so creative! We even had an adjective parade where we got to show off our costumes and even participated in a poetry competition.
The children have enjoyed taking part in the STEmazing Inspiration Academy where they have developed their curiosity, creativity and courage within the subjects of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. They have enjoyed learning with an engineer to develop their understanding of many concepts.
The children enjoyed:
Making energy poppers and exploring energy and energy transfer. The children made a launcher to test launching different small projectiles.
Creating Structures using paper- Focusing upon which shape would be the strongest- the record holder was Isobelle. Her structure held 27 heavy books!
Creating different designs of spinners and exploring the movement of air over things- also called aerodynamics.
Discovering density-The children were highly encouraged to think scientifically and hypothesise about what would happen before the experiments. They really enjoyed watching the chemical reaction with the Alka Seltzer tablet with water and oil.
We wanted to see what would happen to a flower when it was immersed in coloured water. Therefore, we conducted an experiment, made some predictions and conducted a fair experiment. The children found this fascinating. We also wanted to see what would happen when plants were deprived of water and sunlight and we monitored the plants daily.
For International Week the children created a landmark using a variety of materials. Some children made the Black forest in Germany, others decided to make Reichstag and others wanted to recreate the modern museum in Spain which contains some amazing architecture.
