Mrs Ramsay’s Y5/6 class have been working hard studying the causes of World War 1 and what life would have been like for soldiers in the trenches and the families they left behind. This has particular significance as 2014 marks the centenary of the start of the war. As part of their study, the class have been reading a book called ‘Private Peaceful’ by Michael Morpurgo which has resulted in some very thoughtful written work. The children have also entered a WW1-themed poetry competition, organised by the Telegraph and Argus. The staff have been incredibly impressed by the quality of the entries and hope you take the time to read some of them.
